Sunshine Bay PS Visit

Students on the south coast have demonstrated great generosity to help the families of students in little schools near Bega to get through the drought.

Sunshine Bay Public School students organised a Colour Run Fundraiser with the families in the drought affected Candelo area in mind.  Sunshine Bay PS Principal Maree Dielman had visited the area recently and was determined to work with her parents and students to help lift the morale of the farming families.

“We are absolutely thrilled at the response we’ve had, and delighted to translate such a strong spirit of support into practical and lasting benefit,” said Mrs Dielman in her recent visit to the school.

Last week Mrs Dielman and her husband and generous P&C members brought the student leaders to Candelo Public School to donate all of the equipment needed to run our own Colour Run activity for students, staff and parents. They even included a BBQ lunch and organised a surprise visit by local celebrities Toad and Amanda from House Rules! At an assembly Sunshine Bay Public School student leaders presented a cheque for $7400!

“Our families can now access major excursions, receive new summer uniforms as well as organise with other local small schools a Robotics Challenge Day at Candelo. This will ensure that the generosity of Sunshine Bay Public School is spread as far as it can possibly go at this challenging time,” reported Candelo PS principal Suezanne Bourke.

“We are so grateful for the generosity and work that Sunshine Bay PS has organised to help our kids. It is incredible generosity and thoughtfulness where so many people have gone way out of their way to make things happen! We are very proud of public school values on display” she said.
